Beauty can start anywhere you want whether it's hair, makeup, skin, etc. Personally, beauty starts with my skin, primarily my face.
I'm not saying I am but I'm not saying I'm not a little obsessed with my skin. Outfits and hair and makeup can only help me so much. There's such a misconception that taking care of your face is so difficult and hopeless... NO.
I, like every other regular non-blessed person, deals with acne and dark spots. The trick is finding out what kind of skin you have and what regimen and brands works best for you.
I've used a ton of products from drugstore brands to the good stuff. I found my happy medium at Ulta. Mario Badescu is my savior. I cannot begin to explain how much I love this brand and what it's done for my face and body.
From their face wash to masks, this brand is made to tailor your skin needs. One very helpful thing this brand does is separate and label their products under one (or more) of their skin categories: Oily, Dry, Sensitive, Combination, or All Types.
Featured in the picture from left to right: Acne Facial Cleanser, Special Cucumber Lotion (toner), 100% Tea Tree Oil, Facial Spray, and Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 17.
As for blemishes, I tend to gravitate towards 100% Tea Tree Oil. I found this brand at my local store but I believe any brand will do justice.
Last but MOST important, DO NOT go to bed with a full face of make up!! I totally get the whole wanting to do the 'I woke up like this' thing but no really, you will soon just be waking up with zits and wrinkles. It's so simple, just take off your make up ladies!
