I often get so tired of my clothes and 'have nothing to wear' whilst staring at a full closet. It's important to look at things with fresh eyes, especially as trends repeat themselves.

Let's get into reworking your closet and styling old pieces in new ways! Usually I'm the first to sell or donate items to make room but, some things are worth a second chance. I get it though, easier said than done! Reworking an item can make it seem brand new again- it’s like remembering why you fell in love with it in the first place. This is something I struggle with but, absolutely love doing when I take the time to.

First, try pairing it with something different. If it’s a top, then try different bottoms and vice versa if it's bottoms. Also, try throwing on different accessories with it, like a bold purse or fun shoes!

Mike gifted me this cute b&w summer dress when we first started dating, years ago. I love it today as much as I did back then but, I’ve definitely over played it throughout the years by styling it the same way. My go to styling was wearing it with no layers and with either white sneakers or sandals. Don't get me wrong, that’s a simple, easy summer look but, I feel like my style's evolved from that.

It's a pretty short dress so I started by adding the knee high boots to it and already it had a whole new feel to it! Next was finding a colorful layer to add. I finished the look with this cool thrifted dusty rose, suede blazer and voila!! A completely fresh, new look with an old piece!

My biggest advice for this is to not overthink it. Over the years, your style grows without you even realizing it. Try that bold pattern mash up or see how that bright color looks with it on! Don't be scared, spice it up and you might surprise yourself.

]]><![CDATA[New year, New intentions]]>Wed, 16 Jan 2019 02:59:29 GMThttp://www.gabsevi.com/fashion/new-year-new-intentionsWith the new year upon us and finally having the time to reflect on 2018, I'm ready to start creating new content and reach new lengths in life and my style! I'm not really one for the 'new year, new me' shit (because I'll always be late) but I do believe in setting new intentions.

I’m a bit too hard on myself when it comes to my blog and what I put out there vs what I feel like I ‘should’ be doing. It’s the typical me vs me battle that most of us deal with on the regular. I have to find the beauty in pure creativity again and that means switching things up to discover new routes.

I scare myself into the if it’s not broken, don’t fix it corner and it blinds me from letting my creativity run free. I also find myself still being scared of rejection which then stops me from maybe wearing those boots with that outfit or switching out the loud top for the simpler option.

Wether I get 50 or 5000 likes, I need to love what I’m creating first and foremost! So yes to the animal print mix and matching, yes to the all baby blue outfit on a Tuesday, and a BIG yes to everything and anything I want to wear.

I bought this rad waist belt from Bershka weeks ago and couldn’t quite decide what to wear it with until I picked up these I.AM.GIA pants. I threw it together and it just felt right- ya know the feeling when you put something on, look in the mirror, and just nod in agreement with yourself. I couldn’t help myself when I saw that my thrifted cashmere sweater was the same exact shade of blue either.

The look was already so powerful so it was fate that right before I walked out the door, I remembered what I bought the day before at Nordy Rack. Sitting in my bag was a pair of two tone blue earrings from Madewell! I basically shrieked of happiness when I realized how perfectly these completed my blueberry look. I tossed on all black accessories and an oversized leather jacket to finish the look.

2019 is the year of finally releasing ourselves from these shackles of rules we were taught to live by. We need to remind each other, and mainly ourselves, that mistakes are welcomed. Creative ruts mean beauty is forming and nearby!

With that breakdown out of the way, I wanna talk about two Fall fashion trends that are popping up everywhere, you know them and you’ve probably double tapped them on the gram.

Plaid and animal print are so in right now and aren’t going away anytime soon. I always make sure when I buy something, that it can be incorporated into my closet pretty easily. Plaid is a classic and animal print has had many peaks throughout time and it's definitely time again!

Unintentionally, plaid is slowly encroaching on my closet. I realized the other day that a large portion of my Fall closet is plaid and hear me out: I'm not complaining. It's easy and so fun to play with.

Accessories and layering can dramatically alter how a piece looks. Like you wouldn't know it by this look but, this 90's-esqe dress is the prettiest lil number with delicate black lace trim and straps. Layered it with a black long sleeve, some boots and it's instantly good for chilly weather.

I'm not ready to give summer up but I'm finding myself getting more excited for fall everyday. I'm headed to New York this week and I bet that'll get me in the Fall mood. Get ready to see A LOT of animal print and plaid on my feed!

Another type of print that is taking over is ANIMAL! Think leopard, zebra, and my current favorite, snakeskin!
These prints are bold on their own and can be played up or down. I personally haven’t experimented mixing animal prints yet but, am very intrigued. Thrift queen @bjonesstyle serves up the perfect example on how mixing animal prints can work SO well when done right. Need to try myself!! Next on the wishlist: grey/ white snakeskin boots!
